Installing LTS kernel on for encrypted system - device-mapper error.

Hi,

I just tried installing the LTS kernel on my encrypted system (LVM on LUKS). ReFind shows the kernel, and the system starts with the kernel,
but then I get a message saying:

Cannot initialize device-mapper. is dm_mod kernel module loaded ?
Cannot use device ***, name is invalid or still in use.

Then there's the prompt to enter the password, but it's unreactive ...

Using and updating the regular kernel works fine (except that there's an issue with kernel panics, hence the attempt to install LTS).

Any hints ?

Best,
N

Tried as well with the ZEN kernel, which instead displays "waiting 10 seconds for device ...", then drops me to an emergency shell ..

Had a similar problem to this a couple weeks ago. Make sure you add the kernel parameter initrd=/esp/vmlinuz-linux(-zen/-lts or whatever)
