After the most recent upgrade to the system, Konsole is now generating an error.
Using Terminator:
[root@joesarchlinux arizonajoe]# konsole
This is what I get:
konsole: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkonsoleprivate.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZN8KSandbox16startHostProcessER8QProcess6QFlagsIN9QIODevice12OpenModeFlagEEI assumed I had a corruption or malformed config file, so I ran this:
[root@joesarchlinux arizonajoe]# pacman -Rcns konsole That also uninstalled these:
filelight-22.08.0-1 kcharselect-22.08.0-1 kde-utilities-meta-22.08-2 kdebugsettings-22.08.0-1 kdf-22.08.0-1 kfind-22.08.0-1 kfloppy-22.08.0-1
kteatime-22.08.0-1 ktimer-22.08.0-1 markdownpart-22.08.0-1 plasma5-applets-kde-arch-update-notifier-7.2.1-1 sweeper-22.08.0-1 yakuake-
22.08.0-1
I then ran this:
[root@joesarchlinux arizonajoe]# cd .config/
[root@joesarchlinux arizonajoe]# rm -rf konsolercto reset the konsole config.
After then reinstalling konsole, it still won't open. Which leaves me without Yakuake or Kate functionality.
Any criticism welcome!

Ran a partial update? Maybe by ignoring packages in your pacman.conf?
Or a broken mirror?
pacman -Qikk kcoreaddonsOffline
Never ran a partial update.

kcoreaddons-git: 129 total files, 0 altered filesI'm beginning to think I need to patiently delete all Plasma/KDE files from the system and re-install.
Incidentally, I had a need to copy and paste something from a technical blog today and noticed my C & P right mouse click gives me a solid black drop-down menu. This didn't happen before the last kernel update. Also, today Dolphin is unable to execute a file drag and drop any more, but no problem with Nautilus. When it rains, it pours....
Maybe a broken mirror. Something is damaged. I suspect I'll never know. Thanks to Seth for his imput.

Why do you have a git release of kcoreaddons and are there more -git packages of things because you decided to use yay/paru to install packages from the get go and then selecting potentially incompatible packages? For the "immediate" fix install kcoreaddons instead, to more properly check what's going on here post
pacman -QmOffline
Just out of curiosity (but it may also be related) - do you do everything from your 'root' account/do you have a "normal" unprivileged user account?
Actually, I followed V1del's advice and did remove kcoreaddons-git, replacing it with kcoreaddons, which took some doing. After removing all non-essential git-sourced applications, and rebooting, the original error disappeared and Kate and Dolphin all behave nominally. I still don't know how kcoreaddons-git made its way into my system. I do NOT use yay/paru but rarely use trizen. Everything's working again.
Also, I rarely do anything from the root account. I will only use that account to troubleshoot, which is why you saw me operating from that directory. As seldom as I post here, you guys never fail me. The help I have gotten from the Archlinux community is always just excellent. Thank you all!

Trying to type [SOLVED] before the OP title of this thread but all I get is [SOL.
The Konsole/Kate/Dolphin issue is SOLVED. For some reason, from both this Archlinux box and a different Win 10 box, the title of this thread does not want to be edited with more than four characters.

No, there's a length limit - you've to shorten the resto of the title (eg. KDE, X11 and wayland were all pretty irrelevant to the problem)

Thanks for the heads up on the length limit. I edited the title length.
