You can set up a cronjob to start the daemon at 00:00 and another one to close it at 06:00

I run FAH 24 hours a day and don't notice any real slowdown if that is what you are worried about. FAH is set to NICE level 19 so pretty much any other running processes have processor scheduling priority over it.

I don't have any problems running it either, except on MAC but I think they are working on that.
