[okular] Problems with highlighting text in multiple column pdf files

Hi,
I'm having difficulties to highlight text in some multiple column pdf file with okular ( some file are working fine and other one aren't).

In some pdf file, highlight span all columns. Is there a way to solve this directly in okular?

An alternative possibility would be to find a tool that could allow for correcting the text flow. Does anyone know such a tool?

Re: [okular] Problems with highlighting text in multiple column pdf files

I personally have not found this problem, but some web searching suggests that it comes up on pdfs with text layers produced via OCR.

At any rate, I started using Atril from the community repo some time ago and I am not looking back at Okular.
I just tried with a 2-column paper freely available on the web (it seems to be digitally created, though), there are no issues selecting two columns.

Maybe you could give it a try. There are other viewers listed in the wiki.

Is there's a way atril can highlight text. In fact I often highlight text in pdf file and had comments. It didn't find this feature in atril.

It seems that you are not the only one missing such functionality.
In your specific situation, it may be easier to open a bug report for okular, rather than asking for annotations implemented in Atril.
Please note that I have no experience getting support for either application.

Re: [okular] Problems with highlighting text in multiple column pdf files

Ok. Okular can do highlighting and annotation well. My problem is only with some specific pdf files with multiple columns. My guess is that in okular highlighting multiple column pdf file works okay, except with some files that may have an incorrect text flow. The last version of okular is a bit buggy with respect to annotating highlights (right click does not allow to make annotation in highlighting mode) but I use on older version that does .
I asked about a possible app that would allow to correct the text flow of a pdf file, which may solve my (small) problem with okular and maybe other software like social annotation software  in order to use them in a classroom.
