More specifically,
userspace utilities for the management of file systems that will be used on the system,
utilities for accessing RAID or LVM partitions,
specific firmware for other devices not included in linux-firmware (e.g. sof-firmware for sound cards),
software necessary for networking (e.g. a network manager or DHCP client),
packages for accessing documentation in man and info pages: man-db, man-pages and texinfo.
I have installed ext4 for my filesystem.

More than this would just be biased opinions...
I for example, would not bother with most things GUI, if I can do it from the terminal comfortably, I'll do it from the terminal, at most TUI.

Whatever you need. It's your system. That's how Arch works. What I need on my system might be completely irrelevant for yours.

1) No special utilities needed (ext4)
2) If you're going to implement either one, please click on the relevant links in the installation guide
3) 'linux-firmware' is a split package - compare its components with your hardware and install additional firmware accordingly. If you have trouble getting sound to work without 'sof-firmware', simply install it later...
4) Again, please see the link provided in the guide and choose wisely
(don't install "competing" packages)
5) recommended, if you want to make use of/troubleshoot/understand your system and its components better...
EDIT: slow typing ![]()

the absolute bare minimum would be a window manager / de and a terminal emulator. because, from there, you can install pretty much anything else you need as you need it.
though as for basics i would recommend a web browser, file manager and whatever programs you need to get work done

We paint with the colours of the sun
Time solidifies in our brains
