VIA UniChrome / KM400

Hi

I have a new computer with a VIA KM400 chipset and a VIA UniChrone VGA onboard. Does anybody have a ready packet with drivers for xfree or a xfree packet with the drivers inside? I'm too stupid to patch and compile by myself.

Please tell me if you have success and the steps you took. I am also seriously thinking of getting an Asus A7N8X-MX which is based on the KM400. It's a very nice board.

I'm using it on my Biostar M7VIZ and ECS KM400 boards.
I just copied via_drv.o in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers and changed my /etc/X11/XF86Config.
I also tried XFree 4.4 and it supports natively KM400 graphics chip, but only with 2D acceleration.

Have you been able to get 3D acceleration going and exactly what changes did you make to the Xf86config?

In [Section "Device"] I modified the following:

Driver "via"

and it just works.

Look at the site I pointed out on my post above for more details.
No 3D, though.

Anyway you can just use xfree 4.4 from the testing directory! 8)

Hi

I tried to install XFree 4.4 from Testing but faild.

Pacman -U xfre says that xfree ist not compatible with ttf-bitstream-vera if i chose remove there is am message that xfree need ttf-bitsream-vera if i choose keep pacman cant install xfree because it conflicts with the ttf....

what have i to do?

You should force it with "-f" and "-d" options.
Remove xfree 4.3 and then install 4.4.
Personally I decided to stay with 4.3, since the driver I pointed out some posts above works fine for me.
