LightDM crashes and restarts itself when I first log in after rebooting my PC. I am sometimes able to log in successfully on the first attempt, but applications will crash or fail to load. I always have to log in a second time for things to work properly.
I am using a fresh, up-to-date Arch installation with an Nvidia graphics card.
cinnamon 5.4.12-1
lightdm 1:1.32.0-4
lightdm-gtk-greeter 1:2.0.8-3
linux-lts 5.15.69-1
nvidia-dkms 515.65.01-2
"journalctl -b" output: http://0x0.st/oV63.txt (Taken from tty2 immediately after the first failed log in)
Any idea what is causing the issue? I'd be grateful for any advice. ![]()
Edit:
It turns out I forgot to create the /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts files! ![]()
While perusing the logs, I noticed that the problems started due to a segfault in libcairo. I dug around a bit and found this comment. Apparently, not setting a static hostname can have interesting consequences if it happens in the middle of startup processes.
