[SOLVED] nohup Xorg?

Can someone please help me understand if this is possible?
I want Xorg to run in the background when I am logged out. 
I want everything in that X session running in the background, all the applications.
Then I want to log back in and reconnect to the X server, to that same X session, with every application window open as it was before I logged out.

Is this achievable? Seems like display managers all keep running Xorg in foreground achieving a similar effect but Xorg is always in foreground.

I report that TigerVNC provides this functionality to have an X display run in the background and you can 'detach' it or 'reattach' it (connect/disconnect to it via vncviewer). One limitation is that you are limited to only one display per Xvnc server instance.
So I'll mark this as solved.
