Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

Hi,

I switched from Manjaro to Vanilla Arch with my new Laptop and have issues to make it work.
I have installed Arch with Gnome and I am unable to login when my laptop is on battery. Sometimes I can login, see the mouse cursor and then the laptop screen turns black, sometimes I even dont see GDM after the boot.
As soon I have my laptop on the power adapter, there is no issue...

Since I really dont know what logs are important here, I ask you please to tell me what you need to help me with this.

My Hardware:
- Intel Core i5-1235U
- 16GB RAM
- Intel Iris Xe Graphics "Gen 12.2" (Alder Lake GT2)

I installed Arch with the Zen-Kernel and have 5.19.8-zen-1-zen at the moment.

Thanks!

Alex

Re: Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

That'd be the difference from manjaro which uses the LTS kernel by default (and in any event the kernel you used was probably slightly older)
Try to disable GUC, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_ … re_loading
You can also try https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_ … Intel_CPUs (on abvious battery costs)

Re: Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

Should I try if it works on the ZEN-Kernel? If so, I just can skip that and stay on the LTS-Kernel, thats fine for me.

Re: Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

Yes (since the LTS kernel isn't affected)
You can also try the non-zen kernel.

nb. that at some point some 5.20.xx or so will become the LTS kernel and you want to make sure that the issue has been sorted out before.

Re: Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

When you are on a power adapter, and are logged in under Gnome, what does the Gnome have to say about the battery and the battery state?  Charging? Not present? Fully charged?

Re: Unable to login on battery, no issue on power adapter

@seth: I am not going to switch, i will stay at the LTS-Kernel and will try Linux 6 as soon as it is out of the RC-state.

@ewaller: It tells me it is fully charged.
