I ordered a Slim 7 Pro X (6800hs + rtx 3050) on which I'd like to install both Linux and Windows. I only want to use the nvidia card on the rare occasion I boot Windows, and use integrated amd graphics in Linux.
Now according to the Arch Wiki at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Lenovo … icated_GPU if you disable the discrete graphics in BIOS, the amdgpu driver "is then not able to properly run the integrated Rembrandt Radeon 680M video adapter".
I guess that means no integrated graphics under Linux. Would something like envycontrol work instead?
Also I was wondering where I can find more info about this issue. I've been searching the web for a while and even asked Lenovo, who just replied they don't support Linux on this model.

Don't overthink things and just setup standard PRIME: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME# … er_offload it's officially supported and generally works as supposed to.
But yes looking at the source envycontrol would likely work as well

Ok, thanks.

Is there a way to check if the discrete graphics is actually powered off after switching gpu modes via envycontrol?

Not directly since you will unbind the graphics driver. Check whether power draw overall is within reason/relevantly lower than if you keep it enabled with something like powertop.
