[Solved] No sound in fresh install

Just installed arch with archinstall on low-end HP laptop.  Selected Xfce, pipewire, & intel open source drivers.  All works fine except sound (dummy output showing).  Would be happy to provide output of any commands you may need to diagnose...

This is a forum not a chat room and asynchronous in nature. It's not guaranteed that people looking here will have an answer for your issue and you shouldn't expect immediate responses. 

If you still want help, post

aplay -l
sudo dmesg | grep -iE 'snd|sof'

on a guess I'd say you likely lack sof-firmware

Moderator: Thanks for the clarification about the forum.  I occasionally withdraw questions if I'm not going to wait a long time for the response -- it's only fair to someone who may reply long after I've moved on.  I also resolved the problem by reinstalling and selecting all open source drivers instead of just intel, which somehow included sof-firmware.  Thanks.  (asynchronous - good word)
