Re: rankmirrors error

Is that second code block from your pacman.conf?  If so that would explain your symptoms: at least one Server line must be uncommented.

But if you installed archlinuxcn-mirrorlist, then you probably want to Include that file instead of listing Servers directly.  Please post your pacman.conf.

Second code is in

/etc/pacman.d/archlinuxcn-mirrorlist

I have used sed to uncomment server list; this is the first server on the list, if I remove this server rankmirrors don't have problems;

Re: rankmirrors error

It looks like the archlinuxcn-mirrorlist package comes with every mirror commented out.  If you want to use rankmirrors, you should uncomment all of the servers first.

I've already done this.
try you, download archlinuxcn-mirrorlist, use sed and then try rankmirrors...

Re: rankmirrors error

Bumping an old topic that comes up result #1 on Google for this error, to report:

rankmirrors appears to fail for any repo URL that does not contain the repo name as a subfolder of the URL, since it has no other way of assuming the repo name.

https ://the.repo.site/reponame/$arch - works
https ://the.repo.site/$arch - won't work
