Systemd-boot in dual boot: unreadable UEFI entries and resets

Hi everyone,

I have been using Arch Linux for a few months now but I have never been able to find information about this problem.

I dual boot Windows 11 and Arch Linux, and I use systemd-boot with a bootloader partition.

Since the time I set up my system, in the UEFI menu the entries have always been "bugged": the numbers nor the strings representing the names are displayed properly, with random ASCII characters and "invisible entries".

Moreover from time to time it happens that at shutdown the machine freezes. I have to force shut it off and when I restart it the UEFI settings are reset to default, such that I have to reinstall the systemd-boot entries to be able to reaccess my Arch partition. I make do, but it would be ideal if I could fix this, so that I don't have to run around with a USB flashed with a copy of Arch.

This is the efibootmgr -v output:

BootCurrent: 0000
Timeout: 0 seconds
BootOrder: 0000,0002,2001,2002,2003
Boot0000* Linux Boot Manager
Boot0002* Windows Boot Manager
Boot2001* EFI USB Device
Boot2002* EFI DVD/CDROM RC
Boot2003* EFI Network RC

The UEFI scrren shows something like:

Boot priority order:
(empty line)
2s██████████0

and when I switch entries this is what it looks like:

Boot priority order:
(empty line)
2sy████H20

Do you have any idea how I could approach the problem?
Thank you for your time.

It sounds like your UEFI firmware is faulty. Have you tried updating it?
