Ill have to record the play I get with the cables in the port on my lap top and share the video in my next post.

I shrunk root, I then installed windows 10, and it too failed at 1gigabit internet. So that confirms its an actual port issue.

You mean like you can wiggle them? That's not supposed to happen…

Yes I can move it in and out even with the click of the cable end. But the Windows 10 confirms its not a driver issue, but an actual physical port issue on the sager/clevo/based laptops. I have submitted a major bug issue related to this to the manufacturer of my lap top. I am just happy it has a very reliable gigabit wifi card.

Here's the video I promised

And that behavior at no point gave you any pause or made you mildly suspicious???
The latch doesn't seem to move and it looks like the plug is never fully injected - whether the case of the plug collides with something on the laptop case I can't tell from the video.
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

This was the first time I've heard of the clevo port issue, and yes the end is fully latched as you can't pull it out unless you depress the latch, and tge same cable end doesn't move like that in the usb ethernet port I just got.
Also I've only ever used wireless on the laptop until I moved downstairs to work remotely from July 15th to now.
I will mark this as solved, and I appreciate your time with this.

They found a spider had shorted out a pin on the motherboard for the nic. They replaced the motherboard, case, and deep cleaned it.
Just thought I'd share the cause.
Sager and Clevo are awesome. Most would have likely denied the RMA as neglect.
