Hello everyone.
This is my first time attempting to install Arch Linux after using Ubuntu and Debian for a few years. I recently got a new Razer Blade 14 which I installed Win 11 on, and now I decided to dual boot Arch Linux along side it. I created an Arch Linux USB Boot stick and tried to install. However, it will not install. It gets to the part where it says "Started Modem Manager", then the screen goes black and just reboots. Before I know it, my PC is booted back into Win 11.
I am posting this here as I suspect this might be an issue with this type of laptop, but I am not sure if anyone one else has experienced this issue or if I am just doing something wrong.
Any suggestions or advice to install Arch Linux would be great as I would love to play around with it while I am traveling this weekend.
Thank you! ![]()

It's most likely not the machine.
How did you create the USB medium? Did you verify the download before writing to the USB drive?
EDIT: Perhaps post the specs of your Razer

I created the USB using the latest version of USB Writer.
I did verify the download and can confirm that the MD5 checksum is good.
My Razer specs are as follows:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX (3.30 GHz)
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
GPU: RTX 3070
I tried a bunch of different methods but still does not work unfortunately.

The specs of your machine should be OK. What I'd do if I were you is to go over the installation guide again and I would:
- check download with gpg key
- write the image with dd command (check the **Note part of USB Flash Installation Medium page)
- make sure Secure Boot in Bios is disabled
I tried a bunch of different methods but still does not work unfortunately.
What are the different ways you tried? What outputs are you getting? Also just to check the obvious, did you setup your BIOS to boot the USB drive?

Try booting with the nomodeset parameter.
