Mounting drives and sudo

Why do some internal drives need root permissions to mount and some don't? All ive found online is about fstab but when i generated fstab none of them were mounted, my fstab file only has entries for the boot drive.

Assuming you want to allow none root mounting using the mount command see mount.8#Non-superuser_mounts.
