package that install binary into /opt not available directly

Recently reinstalled the system. But when I install packages, I found out all those installing binary to /opt doesn't get a sym link into /usr/bin. So after the installation, the program is actually not available. E.g. xfce. Is this meant to be or a bug?

Re: package that install binary into /opt not available directly

u kould file a bug report, to get ur concerns noticed at least, but i would rekommend symlinking to them .... a simple addtion to the $PATH would suffice...

log out and then back in again or run "source /etc/profile". The /opt programs are loaded by scripts in /etc/profile.d

Dusty: That's true. I'll remember that. But for somebody who didn't know this, it is not intuitive at all.
