Screen brightness control stopped working after some update

After a recent update, all methods of brightness control (function keys, KDE settings/widgets, manually writing a value as described in the wiki article) stopped having an effect. The keys are still recognized and the popup appears, but the brightness doesn't actually change.
Unfortunately, I cannot say what update broke it since I'm not changing my brightness frequently.

System details:
HP EliteBook 8770w
NVIDIA Quadro K5100M (470xx drivers)
linux 6.0.2.arch1-1
xorg 21.1.4-1

Re: Screen brightness control stopped working after some update

There's some ACPI breakage in the 6.0 kernel with nvidia drivers so there's likely a link there, check if you can reproduce on LTS

Re: Screen brightness control stopped working after some update

Alright, works on LTS. Would still like a permanent fix though.

Re: Screen brightness control stopped working after some update

Wait for nvidia to release new drivers that workaround/use different APIs for the breakage caused in linux 6.0
