Hi guys... I just got a ThinkBook p16 G2 the other day and started customizing my system. Since it is not my first stint with Arch, and thanks to the awesome Wiki, I didn't run into any serious issues, everything is more or less working as expected. However, suspending/resuming is giving me serious headaches.
Let me describe the problem: systemctl suspend seems to suspend the machine properly. After resuming it takes a couple of seconds, and then I can continue working. At some point though, after roughly 1-2 minutes, for reasons I failed to track down yet, the window manager shuts itself down, the screen goes black, a cursor is blinking in the top left, and that's it then. Entering a TTY is impossible, and the only option is to initiate a hard shutdown by holding the power button. The weird thing is: Neither journalctl nor the X log contain any useful information.
Any ideas on what I could do to narrow the problem down?
PS: Hibernation is working flawlessly by the way, but waiting 20+ seconds when suspending/resuming is just annoying.

Alright... I found a fix. Obviously other people had the same problem (see here), albeit on a slightly different model.
Anyway, the solution was to add the
amd_iommu=off
kernel parameter. Working for me on 5.19.x, not tested on 6.0.x yet though.
Hope this helps other Archers to enjoy the full functionality of their $2000 machine. ![]()
