Gnome is dupplicating the first letter I type in the activities view search bar after pressing the super key.
This seems to be a documented bug.
I am currently running v42.4, as in the official Arch repo.
Is there any known fix at the moment?

New info suggests that it can be related to the Dash to Dock GNOME extension: https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1855
Disabling the extension or rolling back to v74 fixes the problem.
