pipewire-pulse cannot remember passthrough settings

Hello!

I have set up archlinux on my HTPC. however by default kodi doesnt list passthrough options. after searching on the internet I found this (very outdated) article: https://kodi.wiki/view/PulseAudio. However checking the passthrough boxes for DTS, AAC, etc. doesnt affect my settings at all. After rebooting the settings goes back to default with only "PCM" checkbox enabled. Is it a bug in pipewire-pulse or I am doing something wrong?

Also, According to article TrueHD is not supported on pulseaudio, however option for TrueHD is present. Also found this article which says otherwise: https://www.phoronix.com/news/PulseAudio-13-Released

Thankyou.

Re: pipewire-pulse cannot remember passthrough settings

How are you using Kodi? Kodi-standalone or are you planning on having other apps run at the same time?. I just masked out pipewire and pipewire-pulse units in the systemd user folder so it uses ALSA directly and then passthrough works perfect. I am sure there is another way to force Kodi to use ALSA but that's what I did. This works fine for kodi-standalone usage as I am not having any other applications run.

Re: pipewire-pulse cannot remember passthrough settings

I am using kodi on desktop, because I need to open browser for watching some things not available on kodi.

Essentially, my HTPC is just KDE desktop connected to TV instead of monitor.

After further searching, I found this environment variable:

KODI_AE_SINK=1

and now passthrough works. But when I quit kodi and launch browser, there is no audio. I will make a seperate forum post regarding the issue.
