File renaming help requested

I have a whole bunch of files in the form of:

frame_000001
frame_000002
frame_000003
frame_xxxxxxx

What I need to do is to be able to rename an arbitrary number of frames with either only odd numbers or even numbers:

frame_000001                               
frame_000003                               
frame_000005                             
frame_xxxxxxx

and

frame_000002                               
frame_000004                               
frame_000006                             
frame_xxxxxxx
                 

Obviously, I'm going to have to rename the last file first, and work my way down to the first. Does anyone have a good solution to this problem?

I use Krename for all my renaming needs.

theres also bulk rename in xfce4 but dunno the exact package its part of
