Spotify a firewall may be blocking spotify

When I try to login to spotify I get the following error:
A firewall may be blocking spotify. Please update your firewall to allow Spotify. Additionally you could try changing the currently used proxy settings.

I am not running any proxy on my computer. I found something on the internet a couple weeks ago about pinging the ip address of spotify's server. I did this and did not receive any packets back. I am unable to find that post unfortunately, and I am also unable to find spotify's ip.
When I run the command:

sudo iptables -A INPUT -v

I get the result:

all opt -- in * out * 0.0.0.0/0 -> 0.0.0.0/0

I am not sure if this pertains, but here is my networkd wireless configuration file:
[Match]
Name=wlan0

[Network]
DHCP=yes

[DHCPv4]
RouteMetric=20

My firewall is accepting all ips. I do not know how to fix this. I do not know much about networking nor linux and need help. Thank you!

Are you using this blocking method with an updated /etc/hosts file? Because of this I cannot use Spotify (and don't intend to, so no issue here)

No I am not blocking any ips or domains with /etc/hosts. I can put my /etc/hosts file content here:

127.0.0.1     localhost
127.0.1.1     archos

This is all that I have in this file

Sptotify is "saying" that they cant see your computer, right? So either your firewall is blocking the connnection (IN) or something is, befrore it does?
I have yet to hear about the government that blocks spotify...

Wlan implies that you can (hoprfully) relatively easy connect your pc to other networks, do so, and see if spotify is accessible...

...you did't provide much info... what is your fw? linux/router, what distro/manufacturer...

I am using ip tables and am allowing 0.0.0.0/0 -> 0.0.0.0/0. With my router I am able to run spotify on other devices connected to the same internet. I do not know the information for the router. I installed this same system previously and spotify was working. I do not own the router and I have no access to it. I am running arch linux x64_86. My government is not blocking spotify.

I don't use spotify, but there seems to be a trcukload of clients for it. Which one is this? The official one? Do other clients work?

Your iptables assertion is inconclusive

sudo iptables -nvL

and the spotify client might be stupid. To flush and clear iptables:

sudo iptables -F; sudo iptables -X

Finally, I'd wireshark the connection to see who the spotify client is talking to what.
