Hello,
Just installed Arch yesterday and I haven't been able to get any audio output. I have configured ALSA to use the correct soundcard by default and I've made sure everything is unmuted in alsamixer. Speaker-test appears to run without errors but there is no sound:
speaker-test -c 2
speaker-test 1.2.8
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 32 to 96000
Period size range from 16 to 48000
Using max buffer size 96000
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 24000
was set buffer_size = 96000

Your "first" card is a HDMI card not plugged into anything. What kind of device are you looking to have audio out of ? From general logistics here does playing to the USB card with
speaker-test -Dhw:2,0 -c2 #or -Dhw:2,2 or -Dhw:2.3 work? What's your output for
sudo dmesg | grep -E 'snd|sof'?

The device I'm using is just an headset w/ an aux jack plugged into the front of my PC. I'm also dual-booting Windows from the same PC and the audio works fine there. The first command ran with no errors but there was still no sound (I also tried 2,2 and 2,3):
speaker-test -Dhw:2,0 -c2
speaker-test 1.2.8
Playback device is hw:2,0
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels

What exact system/mainboard is this? There's no indication of a normal integrated card, this "can" be normal and it would be the USB device you need to get working in that case, we forgot 2,1 which is another option.

Running the following command produced sound!
speaker-test -Dhw:2,1 -c2I then specified device #1 as the default in my ALSA config, and my sound now works. Thank you for your help!
