Hi! For the last 2 - 3 months, Steam games like Left 4 Dead 2, No More Room in Hell have been crashing constantly on my system. I tried many things I found on the internet but no solution. I'm asking for your help as I can't stand it anymore. I would appreciate it if you could guide me on what to do. I have MSI Modern 15 A5M with Ryzen 5 5500u cpu with Radeon Rx Vega 7 onboard gpu. I use Gnome 42.5 as a DE but I tried it with multiple DEs and WMs.
I tried starting steam with runtime and native runtime, starting game with bunch of console codes. None of them work.

How/when do these crashes happen? Is as soon as you open the game, randomly while playing, some time while loading the game, or something else?

It's totally random. Sometimes within a minute, sometimes after an hour. Before crash all the buildings, cars and other things disappear, then game freeze shortly and then close.
I created a bug report on github since it can be a bug in the game.

Hi DoubleT, do you have your system updated with the latest packages?
Are you playing those games natively or through proton, if through proton, you could try and change versions, sometimes it helps.
Also, how did you start to play games on arch (I mean did you installed only steam or also lutris and all the needed packages to play games on linux)?
If no, I recommend you to go to https://christitus.com/ultimate-linux-gaming-guide/ and install:
- AMD drivers (since you have integrated AMD chip);
- Lutris and whine dependencies.
Have you tried launching steam through a terminal and playing L4D2? If no, you could get info from the terminal on what exactly triggered such behavior.
Are you feeling alright today?

Hi, Coel. I update my system every day.
I don't use proton, wine, etc. Only native games.
I installed only Steam. Tried once steam-native-runtime.
I installed all the packages suggested in the guide. Never tried ACO but added it to my environment now.
Also tried GameMode for a while but didn't see much difference, so I uninstalled it.
I tried launching it from the terminal: https://gist.github.com/TaylanTatli/37e … rminal-log
In a forum post, someone suggests disabling DPM with a kernel parameter, but my system doesn't start when I tried it.
Also, there is a server on L4D2 which I usually play, and I asked its owner to understand what is the problem. He said there is a shader problem, so there must be a problem with your GPU.
I tried mesa-git today, but nothing changed. Valve didn't answer my bug report. There is nothing left I can try. I will just wait, with some updates I hope this will be fixed.
Thank you.
