[SOLVED} Cant use arch linux after installing new graphics card

Hello.

Im using nvidia propietry drivers. and I sold my graphics card to get a new one. but when I plug the graphics card it shows the bios all good i see starting version arch and my harddrive name followed by clean and a bunch of numbers but then it stops and nothing else happens on the screen. Im guessing this happens because the nvidia drivers are not compatable. so when linux is starting up i spam cntrl alt 2 to get into tty but it does nothing. everytime it tries to load the desktop environment and the graphics driver and im left with a frozen screen. I really want to get into the terminal so that I can play around and get some compatable drivers loaded. im just not sure how to do this. can anyone help me?

many thanks!
