I am having a problem with auto mounting usb devices. The problem seems to be with HAL. After I plugin my usb device, I get the following error message:
I tried starting udevmonitor and everything is reconized but I get the same message. This is most likely unrelated but dbus fails to stop and I have been having problems with it. I can always mount something manually it is just nice to not have to.
hal 0.5.8.1-3
dbus 0.93-1
Thank you.

I have no problems with my USB HDD and USB flash drive.
Have you some udev rules or fstab entries set for your USB device?
Please provide as much additional info as you can.

I had this problem when first switching to the gnome beta, with the actual release however, this problem was fixed for me.

actually somehow, pmount was the culprit. I just fixed it not 2 minutes ago.
I didn't have pmount installed; somehow. I thought it was one of the dependencies for gnome? i did installed pmount and rebooted and now it works.
thanks for the quick response, though.
