ion3 patch questions

What is the current PKGBUILD referring to:

source=(http://iki.fi/tuomov/dl/ion-3ds-$pkgver.tar.gz
    ion.desktop
    ion.patch )   <--This bit right here?

What is ion.patch and where would I get it? I'm trying to build the latest version. Is this patch something I should be concerned with?

It looks to my untrained eye that there are quite a few changes even between version 20061020 and 20061029. I could always be patient for the package to be updated, but I was also curious if any ion gurus out there had come up with a patch to allow ion to use xft. I tend to disagree with tuomov in that regard.

The patch file will be in CVS and  fetchable with 'abs' shortly.
