Re: Need a simple project

Hello.

I'm curently working on a game project with some other developers, we started not so long ago, I think it's quite simple and very enjoyable to code. Since it'a a free software project I think I can link it here, please tell me if I'm doing wrong; check out http://sourceforge.net/projects/last-online for more informations, or contact me (see profile).

In case you are interested, you said you are comfortable with C++, do you mind if I ask you how comfortable you are ? I mean, could you please quantify your experience? (months, years? ).

Thank you.

Re: Need a simple project

Write me a Yahtzee game.  I started one ages ago but gave up (I wrote the engine, but I have no experience with writing SDL interfaces (which is what I wanted) so scrapped it).

Lasto Online is a free and open-sourced MMORPG game. It consists in two main modules, a server and a client to play with. It is inspired by Ultima Online game but tries to implements a new gameplay and a better gaming experience.

Re: Need a simple project

The problem with outlining my experience is, I've spent quite a while learning programming, many different languages etc. So I understand how programming works, I've just failed to program anything. I've started projects that most of the time were over my head. Such as a MMORPG. tongue I did start a TicTacToe game with NCurses, maby I'll just work on that.

Re: Need a simple project

January's coding challenge is a good place to start.  You said you've learned but haven't programmed?  Don't get ahead of yourself then - Its hard to pull it all together.  Experience counts 10x as much as knownledge in ANY case.

Kinda came and went too quickly - Also, no one entered save one man, who wins by defualt.  However, the challenge remains, and it's a wonderful one: It can be as simple or as complex as you want.  Gives you wiggle room, proactic room, and growth room.
