Copy on select in terminal requires clicking somewhere else

Hi *,

I am having the issue that the copy-on-select functionality all of a sudden doesn't work anymore. I am using Alacritty, but the issue persists in wezterm and xterm. I openend an issue on the Alacritty Github page which outlines the problem in more detail. The copy-on-select functionality is also broken in other applications, for example Firefox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
