Does anybody here play FFXIV with DWM? Mine just crashes after hitting play on the launcher.
Currently running ProtonGE7-41. Was just wondering if anyone has even got the game to work on dwm (and if yes, how?) since I couldn't find any specific thread about this.

Is dwm relevant to this question? Does the game work on other WMs?
How did you install and how are you running / trying to run FFXIV? What is the stderr output on the terminal when this crashes? Is there are core dump?

The game has really good reviews on protonDB so I assume it works well on most Distro's/DEs.
I just installed it via Steam.
This is the output on my terminal when the error occurs:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'dxvk::DxvkError'
abnormal program termination

Where the actual files of the game reside? Onto a NTFS partition?
Please post here
$ find ~/ -iname 39210

But it doesn't work on yours and you seem to link that with dwm. My question is whether there is any reason at all to think dwm is a relevant factor in your issue - and this is a question you could quite easily test / answer.

You were right it wasn't related to dwm, mb. I had assumed it was since dwm is kinda known for not being compatible with games.

Thank you for pointing out the error, found the reason.
Following command showed me that I had amd vulkan drivers installed (while I'm running nvidia).
pacman -Qs vulkan
I uninstalled the following drivers -
amdvlk
lib32-amdvlk
I assume they installed along with the steam package on pacman
Replaced those with
nvidia-utils
lib32-nvidia-utils
That fixed it!
