How can I set GRUB's first menuentry?

After messing with GRUB's config I ended up reinstalling and regenerating GRUB's config. When booting again, the first option "Arch Linux" now tried to boot kernel linux-lts (which I don't have). I can still boot into my system through advanced options -> Arch Linux with Linux linux.
I have tried editing grub.cfg to copy the contents of the "Arch Linux with Linux linux" to the first menuentry, but that resulted in a pointer error.
I couldn't find anything in /etc/default/grub to edit to select a default kernel (setting GRUB_DEFAULT to saved or 1>x didn't work and are also not what I'm looking for (they pointed to "Advanced Options for Arch Linux", not the subentry)).
Finally I found this article, in which I was told to look for

linux=`version_find_latest $list

in /etc/grub.d/10_linux, but that line just isn't there on my system.

There have been changes in the config format since the thread you found, for recent GRUB versions you can use https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GRUB#S … menu_entry
