I started experiencing a weird issue several days ago. My system completely freezes on every upgrade (pacman -Syu).
It comes to "Reloading system manager configuration" step and becomes completely unresponsive. I can't even change to another console with Ctrl+Alt+F#. The only way out is to hold the laptop power button and do hardware power down.
Not sure what to do or where to look. Any suggestions/ideas are welcome.

A possibility may be to upgrade as described here : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … an_upgrade
The hook that reloads system manager configuration should skip reloading , allowing the upgrade to go through.
That procedure is just a workaround though and may make things worse.
I'd prefer getting some info first. Please post a full journal from the last crash and the content of /var/log/pacman.log since this started.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Hello,
I have the same problem as you for a few days. But the workaround is not applicable on my vps.
Do you know how I can debug and solve my freeze problem or how do you solve it ? (pacman step = Reloading system manager configuration freeze ")
Thanks in advance
