[Solved] Fatal Error with KDE Wayland Session.

The problem was caused by a variety of problems caused due to me being a dumbass and experimenting on my bare metal system.
Notable problems: Partially Incorrect language configuration, conflicting config files from previous nvidia gpu, incorrect hardware acceleration settings applied in wayland, incorrect config defined in sddm-git, unnecessary launch flags in kernel parametres, incorrect root and home directory ownership and permissions. etc.

Fixing these and tidying up my system has seemingly fixed my issue. Marking this thread as solved.

Behaviour: While normally using the system, the display suddenly goes black for 1-2 sec, then comes back, but almost all the windows open at the moment (terminal, chromium, freetube) gets closed. If something is running in the terminal then the process is killed abruptly too when this happens. Error occoured around 20:24, 9th Dec.

System Specs: Ryzen 5 3500, RX 570, MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX, 16GB RAM, Fully Updated Arch with the latest kernel. Running Wayland with KDE and XWayland to maintain compatibility and using SDDM-git.

How do I fix this ? Is this a bug or some error with my config ?

If you save the one you've still got, you can post it and somebody will probably take a look at it. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_d … _core_dump. I say 'somebody' because I'm clueless, but there are people here who aren't . The dumps get deleted automatically after a time (hence all the 'missing's, so you need to extract/save/post it before that happens. (I think I read it is about 3 days by default.)

Edit: is whatever provides the epson thing up to date? I'm assuming that's from AUR.

In general you should try whether you've a better experience w/ plasma on X11.

I'll look into it Also, recently I had fucked up my root directory by chmod -R 777 /, so had to redo some of the file permissons and user permissions to make my system bootable again.
Also localectl && locale -a && locale gives me an error: locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory; and the LC_ALL= value is empty in the output. How did this happen ? I set the system locale during installation

Just correcting the permissions enough to boot won't likely be enough to avoid problems. Does pacman find issues with permissions if you check the installed stuff now?

Yes, it does, while pacman -Syyu, it complains about unsafe path transition. If it's too much work then I might just reinstall.

Don't -Syyu, check the pacman manpage on what the second "y" actually does and don't use it unless you really mean to.

Yes, it does, while pacman -Syyu, it complains about unsafe path transition. If it's too much work then I might just reinstall.
A side-point: never do "pacman -Syyu" because that can leave your system in a partial upgrade state - which screws things. Always do "pacman -Syu" instead. You can look into the details but -Syu won't break your system but -Syyu has a chance to break it depending on the state of mirrors when you do the -Syyu.

And yes, I've seen the archwiki page you mentioned. My DE which is KDE is not applying it's own language settings. Also when I installed arch, I set the locale by: uncommenting the US-UTF8 line. Then running : locale-gen.

P.S: I did a bunch of stupid things/experiments out of curosity on my system, without fully knowing the implications and consequences. I should've used a VM Sorry.

The bigger issue though is the ownership of the root directory "/", which should™ be likewise and is causing the "unsafe path transition" complaint.
Also your user UID is 1003, there's probably none w/ the UID 1000 (left)

Are you sure? Did you look at what's in the config?
And what'S the output of "locale" in a console login?
