[Solved]Failed unmounting at shutdown

Hail!
When I stop the system, all works well, but the /home and /tmp dirs are failed to unmount.  The later don't bothers me, because its on a virtual filesystem, but /home failure must be the issue why KDE forgots the fresh settings continously. What I was able to mine from journals:

dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore umount[87805]: umount: /tmp: target is busy.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: boot.mount: Deactivated successfully.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore umount[87801]: umount: /home: target is busy.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Unmounted /boot.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: home.mount: Mount process exited, code=exited, status=32/n/a
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Failed unmounting /home.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: run-credentials-systemd\x2dsysusers.service.mount: Deactivated successfully.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Unmounted /run/credentials/systemd-sysusers.service.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: run-credentials-systemd\x2dtmpfiles\x2dsetup.service.mount: Mount process exited, code=exited, status=32/n/a
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: run-credentials-systemd\x2dtmpfiles\x2dsetup.service.mount: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Unmounted /run/credentials/systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: run-credentials-systemd\x2dtmpfiles\x2dsetup\x2ddev.service.mount: Deactivated successfully.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Unmounted /run/credentials/systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service.
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: tmp.mount: Mount process exited, code=exited, status=32/n/a
dec 11 03:36:51 Dumbledore systemd[1]: Failed unmounting Temporary Directory /tmp.

The system runs on SSD, boots with efistub, if these are useful info.

Re: [Solved]Failed unmounting at shutdown

/home failure must be the issue why KDE forgots the fresh settings continously.

I'd look a bit earlier in the journal - KDE crashing out of the session is "standard" roll

Also try what happens when you explicitly log out and then shut down from the DM (sddm?)

Re: [Solved]Failed unmounting at shutdown

It happens even without logging in. The bootlog is here.

I get "error" and an attempt to persuade me to download something or other. Please follow these instructions on selecting an acceptable place to upload text.

Re: [Solved]Failed unmounting at shutdown

OP used a shady file hosting system and cleverly named the updloaded file "error"… roll
https://0x0.st/on-m.txt

Edit, I don't even see you having logged in, so no explanation as to what screws your plasma config, but

dec 12 00:06:39 Dumbledore systemd[1]: dropbox@tombenko.service: Unit process 39835 (dropbox) remains running after unit stopped.

This seems to keep /home busy

Hm. I didn't find a good name for it in the evening. Shit happens. big_smile
Yep, dropbox must be trying to refresh. I will look for it. The issue comes even when I'm logged out.

Re: [Solved]Failed unmounting at shutdown

And the sinner was really dropbox. I prevented dropbox from refreshing, and the issue is gone. Comes the next, oh, how I like KDE grants me the possibility to practice the noble virtue of patience...
