nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

Whenever I double click on my usb stick, or other hard drives nautilus will open "/" also and mount the usbstick or hard drive if it is not already mounted. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem? This is with a fresh install. I've tried twice reinstalling and the problem persists.

I know about the problem of "x.x GB volume" and "Filesystem" both being shown. I am not sure if my problem is related or not. If anyone knows how i can get some sort of verbose output that would be great. I've tried starting nautilus with "nautilus --no-desktop" but nothing is shown in the terminal.

gnome 2.16
portmap, dbus, hal are all started and running

started session with
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session gnome-session
and tried
exec gnome-session

Thanks.

I found one or two people mentioning the same problem with nautilus in the gnome testing post (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=25547) but there was no response to it. Has a bug been filed already? If not I will file a bug report because it is quite annoying.

Re: nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

Problem opening / with other devices is solved by logging in with GDM instead of from the command line.

No. Can't confirm this.

BTW, what happened to this thread? Lots of posts have been deleted.

Re: nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

There was only 1 other. I felt it was not needed.

I do not have a floppy drive to test, but i have flash drive.
would be great if this problem was solved.

Does [SOLVED] means that it's solved only for your USB stick?
Should bug report you filled be closed as "duplicate" or "not a bug"?

Re: nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

The usb stick bug should be closed as far as my problem. I am not sure about others. The floppy problem still exists i beleive as Michael commented.

Re: nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

I had this same problem (i think). I'm using GDM, but I noticed that my sesisons was running nautilus twice. Removing one of them fixed the problem.

Re: nautilus opens / with other devices [SOLVED]

gnome main menu -> admin -> preferences -> sessions

Under current sessions I had nautlius listed twice, so I removed one.
