[SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

I run the

 pactl info

but the result is not pipewire.

Server String: /run/user/1000/pulse/native
Library Protocol Version: 35
Server Protocol Version: 35
Is Local: yes
Client Index: 11
Tile Size: 65472
User Name: xxxx
Host Name: arch-linux
Server Name: pulseaudio
Server Version: 16.1
Default Sample Specification: s16le 2ch 44100Hz
Default Channel Map: front-left,front-right
Default Sink: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo
Default Source: alsa_input.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo
Cookie: 72c9:fb3a

I try to replace wireplumber with pipewire-media-session but still have the same result.

Re: [SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

i try to reinstall pipewire pipewire-pulse pipewire-alsa pipewire-jack
and it says pipewire-pulse is in conflict with pulseaudio. so I remove pulseaudio.
It totally remove the audio.
I check

 systemctl --user status pipewire

and the result is this

Dec 15 16:27:46 arch-linux systemd[584]: Started PipeWire Multimedia Service.
Dec 15 16:27:46 arch-linux pipewire[796]: mod.rt: Can't find xdg-portal: (null)
Dec 15 16:27:46 arch-linux pipewire[796]: mod.rt: found session bus but no portal
Dec 15 16:27:48 arch-linux pipewire[796]: spa.alsa: 'hw:0,2': playback open failed: Device or resource busy
Dec 15 16:27:48 arch-linux pipewire[796]: mod.adapter: 0x556961afab60: can't get format: Device or resource busy

I check the internet for fix and it says I have to copy the config like this

 cp -r /usr/share/pipewire ~/.config/pipewire

and try to restart the services again

 systemctl --user restart pipewire

still no audio.

But I run this command

 systemctl --user enable pipewire-pulse --now

the audio came back.

i check

pactl info

and it shows that its in pipewire now

Re: [SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

Restore back where? If you have a SoF firmware card there's a kernel regression breaking audio which needs to either keep the kernel downgraded to 6.0.10 (though I've seen reports it's fixed in 6.0.12 but I don't see a logical indication towards that in the changelog) or LTS to 5.15.80.

You in general if you want proper help here want to post

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
pactl list cards
pactl list sinks

while things aren't working.

I saved a restore point in timeshift where the audio is working but still in pulseaudio.

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

result:

                     USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: xxxx 572 F.... wireplumber
/dev/snd/controlC1: xxxx 572 F.... wireplumber
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: xxxx 570 F...m pipewire
/dev/snd/seq: xxxx 570 F.... pipewire
pactl list cards

result:

Re: [SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

Put the output as well as the commands in code tags please.

You should generally only use the pro-profile if you know exactly what you're doing, where are you trying to get audio out of? Just from a detection perspective only the HDMI is detected do you want HDMI output or from attached speakers?

what I want to happen is use the audio output duplex like in pulseaudio. 3.5mm in front panel and back panel.

Re: [SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

FYI this is a fresh install of arch linux and I choose kde plasma as my DE. I chose pipewire and wireplumber on the option of plasma installation. Its just strange that it still is pulseaudio even though I selected pipewire.

Re: [SOLVED] audio is working but Pipewire does not

You are on pipewire, but pipewire has pipewire-pulse which implements support for pulseaudio so applications can use it, all of this is normal and expected.

Do you get audio if you force past the detection with e.g

pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1b.0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo

can you play from that sink? What do you get for

aplay -lL #Needs alsa-utils

yes. I get audio when I input this command. I tried to restart if it fixes it but it goes back again in its problem.

Do you get audio if you force past the detection with e.g

pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1b.0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo

yes. I get audio when I input this command. I tried to restart if it fixes it but it goes back again in its problem.

when I click the audio slide, a notification sound is going out. I tried to play music in strawberry app and it says some error about streaming.

I install

 gst-plugin-pipewire

restart and choose the "Pro audio"

the output sound is working now.
