Arch linux locking up after boot on clean install

I recently tried to install arch on my desktop. the installation went fine and i was able to login. however a few seconds after logging in the computer locked up.
I have read some other threads on similar topics and tried there fixes however nothing has worked. linux-firmware is installed.
I am guessing it is something to do with graphics as i can run it in text mode with no problems.
Im running Arch 2022.12.01, AMD Ryzen 5 2600, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super.

Install the proprietary driver (or nvidia-open if you want the FOSS fuzzies) nouveau doesn't properly support this card
