3dfx Voodoo Banshee How ? [SOLVED with vesa]

Hallo,

I am trying to have a better font. Installing TTF did not help. So I installed the tdfx package found here.
I got a resolution of 1600 x 1200 but the whole system blocked and I had to power off.
Maybe I have to compile a driver specific for 3dfx Voodoo Banshee ?

Questions:

Is it usefull to install 3dfx drivers to get a better font, if I do not to intent to  play 3d games ?
What about drm driver ? Option or necessary with tdfx driver ?

I'm not sure the Banshee is included in the 3DFX drivers. I have not checked this though, just a thought.

Re: 3dfx Voodoo Banshee How ? [SOLVED with vesa]

I am happy, I got a good font. big_smile
I ran Xconfig to make a new xorg.conf
In this xorg.conf I had the driver "tdfx".
Screen freezes. I found a lot of similar complaints on the web.
So I used this xorg.conf and just swapt the driver line tdfx > vesa
The result is very well.
But it looks like vesa supports only
1280 x 1200
1024 x 768  ( or less)
If someone is able to use another resolution with, please let it know here. Thanks

Banshee is hard to find anything for, even windows. It was plagued with problems from the start and 3Dfx was quick to drop it.
