[SOLVED] kernel panic on shutdown after partial upgrade

I accidentally performed a partial upgrade of the openssl package, and a lot of things broke. I went to shut off my laptop to boot an iso and Syu, and the kernel panicked after reaching target System Power Off. The first line of the panic message is "Kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00007f00". I can send pictures if more output is needed. Mainly, I want to know if it is ok to hard-poweroff the system at this point and try to boot my iso.

linux version: 5.15.74-1-lts

That's about the only thing you can do at this point.

Re: [SOLVED] kernel panic on shutdown after partial upgrade

thanks. other sources were a litte vague as to what to do in the case of a kernel panic, and i didn't want to assume anything. i was able to complete the upgrade with minimal problems after that.
