Re: Xorg upgrade broke Shutter on Intel graphics

How dated is the second screenshot?
Couple of frames back or just the screenshot you took before, in doubt some hours ago?
In the latter case, there's almost no way how anything but shutter could be the culprit.

Re: Xorg upgrade broke Shutter on Intel graphics

Yes, the latter is the case indeed. And since other screenshot tools don't display this behaviour, it looks like a problem with Shutter. But the problem wasn't there just a few weeks ago and appeared after this ******* update a few weeks ago. So, since I am part of the Shutter team but am a greenhorn in coding (thus, I don't look into Shutter's code too much but rather do simple stuff like helping users on the issue tracker) and the current main developer has a lot on his plate besides of Shutter, I'd like to try to at least research what the cause of the problem might be. Looks like a tough nut to crack though...

I am part of the Shutter team

tada wink

Are you running the repo version of shutter or did maybe some local build sneak in?

type shutter
pacman -Qikk shutter

Other than that, shutter depends on perl-gtk3 and there's

[2022-12-07T20:56:52+0100] [ALPM] upgraded gtk3 (1:3.24.34+r156+g812b3930d0-1 -> 1:3.24.35-2)

and gtk3 is certainly foundational enough to cause random effects downstream.

YESSSSS!!!! A gtk3 downgrade did the trick! Thanks a ton, it's ridiculous how much time I have spent to troubleshoot this!

Re: Xorg upgrade broke Shutter on Intel graphics

I could find the commit which caused the bug and reported the issue upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/5482
