Hello everyone,
I am having trouble in using the HDMI to USB-C adapter for connecting a second screen to the laptop: ASUS ROG STRIX g513ih-hn002t. The output is with USB-C to HDMI adapter connected.

Transporting video singals over usb-c is done through alternate modes which are optional .
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB-C#Alt … ifications
Do any of your usb-c ports show one or more of those logos ( If unsure, check the manual of your laptop .)
What is the brand & model of the usb-c to hdmi adapter ?
Welcome to archlinux forums

Hi and thanks for your reply.
On the manual it says that ther's a:
USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C®/DisplayPort/
Power Delivery combo port
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Gami … E_V2_A.pdf (page 26)
Moreover, the port has logo number 1.2 (USB Type-C with video output function.) from the following reference: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1042843.
Any clue?

That confirms the laptop port does support DP signal transport.
A usb-c hdmi adapter using that port "only" needs to convert the DP signal to HDMI. That is usaully done by a dedicated chip in the adapter.
Often that chip needs a driver, which may not be available for linux.
Does your monitor support DisplayPort ?

Hi, the monitor does not support DisplayPort. The brand & model of the adapter is LTZGO. Can you suggest an adapter to buy in the EU? Thanks.

Can't find details about ltzgo hdmi adapters, do you know their site ?
Searching on several sites indicates the ACT ac7015 should work fine for 1 hdmi monitor upto 4k@60 Hz resolution .
It's available from lots of shops in the netherlands[1] so I expect it to be easily available in other european countries also .
