I have a T480 thinkpad that I would like to have better graphics on while gaming so I picked this egpu up on ebay. It connects via thunderbolt 3. I already disabled thunderbolt security in BIOS. The egpu is powering up and fans are turning while connected. The monitor is waking up and responding but not displaying any output. My aRandR only shows the laptop monitor. I have tried using egpu-switcher. It detects the egpu and says successful switch but then nothing. When I tried to run startx i received the error Fatal server error: (EE)nos screens found(EE). Now my mouse doesn't work so I will finish this and reboot.
lspci -k returns:
09:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device 36fc
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nouveau
Should the kernel module be nvidia instead? How would i go about changing that? The seller on ebay mentioned perhaps updating thunderbolt drivers but I don't see anywhere online how to do that.
Thank you for any help.
