xrdp - blueish empty screen after login

I installed xrdp according to the wiki.
I am using KDE with SDDM so I added the following to .xinitrc:

export DESKTOP_SESSION=plasma
exec startplasma-x11

I also changed the stock RDP port to something else.
When connecting via RDP I get asked to login to xorg.
If I do so I will be left with a blueish/green empty screen.
Nothing else happens.

How can I fix this?

Also, any further security recommendations besides changing the stock port?

Thanks!

Re: xrdp - blueish empty screen after login

Post your complete .xinitrc, and please use [ code ] tags (without spaces), not quote tags.

In terms of security, changing the port is not really much of a protection layer. The #1 thing you want to have is a firewall that only allows access from the outside world from your client's external /32 IP address (fully qualified).
