[SOLVED] First letter typed is duplicated in gnome-shell overview

Since some weeks, when I open the activity overview and try to type something, the first letter is doubled automatically. This is king of annoying if you use e.g. this to start programs regularly. It does not happen always, but most of the time. It seems only always to affect the first letter typed.

Anyone also experiences this or knows how to debug?

It happens also on my laptop but don't know the reasons, it won't happen in my other 2 installations

I suppose it may be related to some gnome extension in use

Seems like dash-to-dock is the reason for me. If it's activated when I login, the bug occurs.

I also found a quick fix: restarting gnome-shell once fixes the issue for this session even if the extension is enabled. As restarting gnome-shell is easily done via hitting Alt + F2, typing r, and hitting enter, this is a reasonable quick fix for me until the bug is resolved.
