Space Rangers 2

I would like to report that Space Rangers 2 works very well on Arch with the wine package.
The visuals aren't quite as flashy on windows and you can't do planetary (RTS) battles, because that needs some fancy DirectX routines, but flying around in space is working great so far.

Re: Space Rangers 2

After a few hours of playing I can conclude that the game is playable, but you will run into occassional problems, like changing settings causes a game freeze (but they are stored) and when you jump systems a few times the framerate will drop to 1 at the end of every turn for half a second, which is very annoying.
Saving and restarting the game works gets rid of it for a while.

If I had no windows, I would play it with wine. But I do.

IMO: if you're familiar with the game - it has quite a few "Planetary Quests" which are text adventures. Sort of like mini-games.
I.e the game has a database of 10 to 20 well thought out, difficult, graphical text adventures. All packaged, maybe doubled in quantity, would make a great Linux game.
