Hi all. Been searching through the forum for some similar cases but none quite fit what's happening to me
These are what I've found that might have some insight to what's happening to me:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=278326
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=277503
what happens to me is the following: i'll be using my computer without any problems for some time when out of the blue it seems that plasmashell crashes and all windows on my desktop, end up in the same place. From here on, I cannot change application window and only interact with the last window in focus. The only way of resolving this issue is changing terminal (ctrl+alt+f2/3/4/5) and killing Xorg. Then, back to tty1 and `startx`. Rinse and repeat.
Any idea what might be happening here?
cat .xinitrc
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-optimus-manager.conf
cat .local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log.old

Do you by any chance see the error in the linked bug report in your journal? My issue seems to have been (hopefully) addressed by the MESA update, but the upstream bug suggested there might be multiple causes on different systems.

Bug looks definitely like mine. What I gather is that everyone is blaming it on mesa and saying "just update mesa" or am I missing something here? (I've been having this error quite some time now so I doubt it'll solve my problem. In the mean time, I'll update what needs to be updated)

That was my sense and it seems to have solved my problem. I would update the system, if you haven't already, and see if it helps.

You will have had this error since mesa 22.3 as that was when mesa defaulted to enable glthreads. They've now blacklisted plasma explicitly for the glthreads usage. which is why an update here should fix it.

As of now, no crashes after the update. I'll be back in a few days to update this task with news. In the mean time, thanks

A week has passed and not crashes of the DE for now. I think I'll mark this problem as solved (upstream bug fixed with update)
