NO REAL PLAYER IN REPOS

Hi friends,

There is no real player in the repos and without real player it is not possible to play songs on the websites (i.e., http://www.raaga.com/ and www.musicindiaonline.com). Would some TU take care to put real out there in the repos or if there is any other way to do things without real, please post it.

Thanks in advance

Re: NO REAL PLAYER IN REPOS

There is a PKGBUILD in AUR:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=1590

It can't go in the repos because of licence.

Re: NO REAL PLAYER IN REPOS

Get the PKGBUILD and run makepkg to build the package. Then install with 'pacman -A realplayer-10.0.8.805-1.pkg.tar.gz'

cd /var/abs/local/
mkdir realplayer
cd realplayer
wget http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/realplayer/realplayer/PKGBUILD
makepkg
pacman -A realplayer-10.0.8.805-1.pkg.tar.gz

That should do the trick. To familiarise yourself with AUR & ABS please see: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS

Re: NO REAL PLAYER IN REPOS

thanks for help regarding real. however, someone in the forum suggested installing mplayer-plugin since i already have mplayer. So, I did the same and plugins are there in /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins, but they are not working. Since I had instaled firefox 2, thinking that it looks for plugin in its own directory, I copied the plugins from /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins to /opt/mozilla/lib/firefox-2/plugins, but still nothing is working, neither firefox nor opera is able to play songs from websites.

That is the right path. This path is exported in /etc/profile.d/mozilla.sh as MOZILLA_PLUGIN_PATH:

$ echo $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH
/opt/mozilla/lib/plugins

Works all perfectly here without moving files around.
