Using microphone...

I am learning a new language, the book I use have an included cd with same pronunciation. And I'd like listening my test in order to understand better how good I am speaking.
I have a head set that works (I use it via skype), I just need a simple recording playing program, it is ok both X or CLI.
Any advice?

Well, if you want really simple CLI - aplay/arecord are in alsa-utils, so probably on your system already.
