connectionless laptop

hi,

i just installed arch  on an old laptop. it only has a asus pcmcia wifi card (rt2500 chip) and I can't get a wired card handy. I installed just a 0.7.2 base and now need to figure out a way to install the rt2500 modules from unstable on it. but it apparently depends on 2.6.18 where gimmick ships with 2.6.16.6

is there any way to gather all the required updates and then update off line or should I just try to build the modules from the pkgbuild against 2.6.16 ?

any advice welcome.

Re: connectionless laptop

IMO your priority has to be getting a net connection going. I'd get the rt2500 PKGBUILD and install file from CVS (extra btw, not unstable) and build the module for your running kernel. Once you get online you can update the whole system in the normal way.

You'll need to download the rt2500 tarball (378KB) and put it on a CD or floppy.
